The Conversions 1968

We were the coolest band

I'm  originally  from York, PA,  home of the York Peppermint Patty. Oh the sweet smell of chocolate in the morning.

During my teenage years I played with a number of groups including: The Conversions, Junction, Orion, The Chosen Few, Back Track and The Phoenix Five. The disco era did damage but luckily I have out grown it.

In York I studied the trumpet with Don Miller and drums with Don Frey.

In 1976 I came to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music and graduated in 1979.

I joined the Irish Mist Showband in the summer of 1977 and stayed with them for over 20 years. The band toured both nationally and internationally.

While at Berklee I also worked in a band with Mark Lewis and his brother Phil which was originally called Chicken with Lips and later just Lips. Working on the same bill with other Boston based acts the Atlantics, the Neighborhoods and The Nervous Eaters. Lips did all original material. When the tunes weren't in 5 against 4...we were in 7...against 4

At Berklee I studied drums with Joe Hunt, Keith Copeland and others and trumpet with Jeff Stout. I had the chance to work with groups headed by John LaPorta, Bob Rose, Bob Hores, Wes Hensel and others.

The year following my graduation I moved out of Boston to the suburbs, got married in 1982 and have two children.

I play either a 1965 Ludwig or a 1970 Black Gretsch set, Zildjian and Paiste 602 cymbals and use Vic Firth Buddy Rich model sticks.

I have had the opportunity to work with a number of Irish artists including; Dermot O'Brien, Fintan Stanley, Danny Doyle, Foster and Allen, Paddy Riley, Delores Keane, Dedrie Riley, Sean Duffy, Tracy Sands, Paul Duffy and others both here in the states and in Europe.  I am currently playing with a house band in Boston, MA
